– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– ΒΌ teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 280 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
– 185 g (ΒΎ cup and 1 tablespoon) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
– 105 g (Β½ cup) granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
1-First, preheat your oven to 350Β°F (177Β°C) and prepare an 8-inch square dish by greasing it and lining with parchment paper for easy removal.
2-Next, peel, core, and slice the apples into small pieces, then toss them in a bowl with lemon juice, sugar, flour or cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
3-In another bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, and sugar for the crust.
4-Now, add the cold cubed butter to the flour mix and cut it in until it looks like breadcrumbs.
5-Spread two-thirds of this mixture into your prepared dish and press it down evenly.
6-Layer the apple mixture on top, then cover with the remaining dough, forming crumbles as you go.
7-Bake for 55 minutes until the top is golden and crunchy, then let it cool for 1 to 1.5 hours before cutting into 16 bars.
