Ingredients
– 1 pound ground beef (or 1/2 pound ground Italian sausage and 1/2 pound ground beef)
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 1 medium onion, chopped
– 15 ounces tomato sauce
– 6 ounces tomato paste
– 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
– 1 tablespoon parsley
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– Crushed red pepper, to taste
– 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– 1 tablespoon sugar
– 1 cup water
– 1/4 cup chopped basil (optional, for serving)
Instructions
1-Season the ground beef with salt and pepper.
2-In a large skillet, brown the beef and chopped onion, then drain any excess grease.
3-Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, parsley, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and sugar to the skillet. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil.
4-Add water and stir again.
5-Reduce heat and simmer for at least 30 minutes to develop flavors.
6-Optional: stir in chopped basil before serving.
